Piezoelectric braided cord enables unprecedented coaching in sports. Sensing of piezoelectric braided cord which is based on the displacement of chiral molecules of piezoelectric fibers in the braided cord by an external force, which allows extremely fast response. Therefore, in sports such as soccer and tennis, changes in the force of a blow tothe ball, such as strike power, can be detected instantly. This makes it possible to provideinstruction tailored to the individual's skill level.
The striking force generated in soccer and tennis varies greatly from scene to scene and is said to range from 7,000 N to 10,000 N. It is difficult to measure these striking forces directly with ordinary sensors made of hard piezoelectric ceramics because they are destroyed by these striking forces.
In contrast, piezoelectric braided cord are incorporated into the braid structure in fibrous form, and can be sewn into the shoes themselves or into the shoelaces, making it possible to directly measure large striking forces. In addition, by following the time changes, it is possible to more concretely and accurately teach difficult-to-coach situations, such as how to apply force for precise kicking and how to hit the ball with the shoe.
